Glo sponsors Ojude Oba again, unveils special festival consumer promo

Telecommunications giant, Globacom, has announced the sponsorship of the 2022 edition of Ojude Oba Festival, one of Nigeria’s biggest cultural events.

Globacom also unveiled a special consumer promo tagged Ojude Oba Special in celebration of the festival. According to the company, the promotion will avail its subscribers of the opportunity to win 5 tricycles, 10 television sets, and 10 grinding machines.

“To win any of these prizes, a new Glo subscriber is required to activate a Glo Sim and recharge with a minimum of N1,500, while existing customers will need to recharge a minimum of N1,000 before the 8th of July, 2022, to qualify for the draws”.

The digital solutions provider added that customers who miss the pre-event raffle window could simply spend N5,000 or more at the festival ground on the Glo network to stand a chance of winning any of the prizes.


​Globacom disclosed in a speech read by its Regional Activations Manager, Ogun State, Mr. Ikenna Aguwuom, at a pre-event press conference held on Friday in Ijebu Ode that its collaboration with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee is to honor the traditions and cultures of Ijebuland as well as foster the cause of tourism in the nation.

#ojudeobaThe mobile network operator added that it was pleased to contribute its quota to the further development of Ijebuland since the festival has become a forum for all sons and daughters of the land to converge and deliberate on the growth of Ijebuland and its people.

Coordinator, Ojude Oba Planning Committee, Dr. Fassy Adetokunbo Yusuff gave kudos to Globacom, whom he described as a ‘partner of choice, for its consistency in sponsoring the festival in the last 16years.

Glo Holds Draw For Festival Of Joy Promo In Lagos

Ahead of the planned presentation of prizes to winners of Globacom’s Festival of Joy promotion in Lagos, the company on Monday, November 28, 2022, held a draw to select the lucky subscribers.

The draw which was held at Gloworld on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, was witnessed by the media, Glo subscribers, and the Head of Legal Services of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Gloria Ireka.

Globacom said winners who emerged from the draw will receive their prizes at a presentation ceremony to be held at the same Gloworld location on Tuesday, November 29.  They include the winner of a brand new Kia car and winners of sewing machines, generators, and rechargeable fans.

The company is giving out 20 houses, 24 brand-new cars, 100 generators, 200 sewing machines, and 1,000 rechargeable fans in the Festival of Joy promo.

To participate in the promo, subscribers are required to dial *611# and keep recharging (voice and data during the promo period) in order to be eligible to win the prizes on offer.

“If you would like to be the next Festival of Joy Landlord, you are required to make data subscription(s) of at least N20,000 during the promo period, while those who are interested in winning cars should make a monthly recharge of N10,000; N5,000 monthly recharge for power generators, N2,500 monthly recharge for sewing machines and N500 weekly to win rechargeable fans”, Globacom explained.

As part of activities to commemorate World Children’s Day, leading telecommunications service providers, Airtel Nigeria, and UNICEF hosted Augusta Anuguo (‘Esther’), the differently abled child star featured in Airtel’s latest TVC, ‘Esther’. 

During the ceremony at the Airtel Headquarters, Ikoyi, Lagos, Miss Anuguo had the rare privilege to function in the capacity of Airtel Nigeria’s CEO and MD, Surendran Chemmenkotil as she emerged CEO for the day.

Using this privilege and executive powers as CEO, she remarkably led an advocacy campaign for Nigerian children, especially the differently abled as she signed a policy for Airtel Nigeria to continue to pursue opportunities that will accelerate digital learning for all children in the country, regardless of ethnicity, location, or ability.

“I am also happy to offer Miss Anuguo a scholarship of N1.5m to support her education. This gesture is to encourage her to continue her advocacy for differently abled children as she champions their cause as a key influencer. Thank you for all you do, Anuguo.,” he said.

World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and to improve children’s welfare.

November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
