Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has declared its continuous support for Nigeria’s fight against the peddling of controlled substances.

The Managing Director/CEO of SAHCO, Basil Agboarumi stated that SAHCO boasts of well-trained staff that is equipped to know what to look out for according to world best practices before accepting Cargo and are also trained to be cooperative with Government agencies like The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) assigned to SAHCO’s Import and Export warehouses.

In a statement released by SAHCO Spokesperson, Mrs. Uansohia, Vanessa Adetola stated that Agboarumi also reiterated that SAHCO, which is a major gateway to Import and Export in Nigeria has one of the best warehouses in West Africa and these warehouses are Customs bonded. The warehouses which are built with the latest technology are constructed with the customers’ best interest at heart and also for the purpose of maintaining our clients’ trust by ensuring that clients of questionable businesses are not allowed to use SAHCO’s warehouses as gateways for their nefarious activities.

He emphasized that SAHCO has a campaign titled “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” where all staff is trained to always call attention to unscrupulous activities and crooked acts.

He stressed that SAHCO has a long-time commitment to supporting Government agencies that are stationed at every point where SAHCO conducts businesses by giving them unhindered access to every nook and crannies of both Import and Export Warehouses, providing the necessary scanning machines and other screening technologies to support NDLEA and other Government agencies operations.

SAHCO is an aviation ground handling public liability company that is involved in Passenger Handling, Ramp Handling, Cargo handling and warehousing, VIP Lounge services, Aviation security services, and all other aviation-related activities.

Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has won Aviation Cargo Investment Award (Warehouse).

This award was presented to SAHCO by African Travel Quarterly (ATQ) Magazine in recognition of SAHCO’s contribution to the growth of the Aviacargo industry in Nigeria through the construction of the biggest ultra-modern Custom bonded cargo warehouse thereby facilitating Cargo Business in the country.

In addition, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, the Chairman of SAHCO and SIFAX Group was also awarded Aviacargo Personality of the year during the event. This award is in recognition of Dr. Taiwo Afolabi’s investment in Ports, Hospitality, Aviation, and Maritime in Nigeria and his exemplary leadership qualities.

Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, who was represented by the Managing Director/ CEO of SAHCO said he is quite humbled by the award and he emphasized that he will continue to contribute his quota through the SIFAX Group to ensure that SIFAX Group continues to raise the bar where excellence is expected.

Speaking during the award presentation at the CHINET22 Aviation and Cargo Conference in Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Publisher/Organiser of the event, Ikechi Uko praised SAHCO for building and maintaining the biggest and the best cargo warehouse in Nigeria thereby promoting both import and export through the facility while rendering topnotch Ground Handling services in accordance to international standards.

While accepting the awards, the Managing Director/CEO, Basil Agboarumi said SAHCO is consistently committed to delivering quality services even in the face of challenges, he thanked the event Organizer and Management of ATQ Quarterly for recognizing SAHCO and the Chairman’s significant investments and contributions to the Nigerian economy. He promised that SAHCO will continue to invest in modern facilities to ensure speedy, safe, and efficient services to provide quality Ground Handling Services consistently to clients across all the commercial airports in Nigeria.

He went on to emphasize that SAHCO is the only Ground Handling Company in Nigeria that owns Cool Dollies which are used to convey temperature-sensitive shipment from the aircraft to the Cold Rooms or Freezers in the Warehouse, where the Cold Rooms and Freezers are equipped with Data Loggers that are used to ensure that there is no drop in temperature to avoid denaturing of the contents.

Similarly, SAHCO has invested immensely in electrically powered equipment to prevent Carbon Oxide emissions to the atmosphere, these new fleets are also fitted with proximity sensors which slow down and eventually shuts down the engine of the equipment as they approach the aircraft at a certain distance to ensure that no aircraft is damaged while being serviced.

SAHCO Appoints Two New Non-Executive Directors

Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has appointed two new non-Executive Directors, this was announced during the company’s 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja in Lagos.  

Laila Jean St. Matthew-Daniel and Dr. Bukola Bello Jaiyesimi were appointed to replace Barrister Chike Ogeah and Mr. Ariyo Olutoye who resigned their appointments in January 2022.

Laila Jean St. Matthew-Daniel started her schooling at Our Lady of Apostles in Lagos, she went on to St Louis Grammar School, Ibadan, for her “O” Levels, and then Queens College, for her ‘A’ Levels, before going to the United Kingdom (UK) for graduate studies at the Cripplegate Institute/London Guildhall University. She began her career in the corporate world in the UK, and later Nigeria, before boldly taking the entrepreneurial step in 1983, by opening one of the ‘first’ indigenous Furniture Manufacturing companies, during the 1980s as a result of the Government’s ban on the importation of furniture.

As one of the premier female furniture manufacturers in the early 80’s to early ’90s, she initialized private training programs for artisans in the furniture industry to boost the Governments’ National Directorate of Employment’s empowerment efforts and pioneered seminars for public enlightenment on the relationship between stress and furniture ergonomics apart from winning various awards for unique designs. She coordinated interior fix-outs from conceptualisation, implementation, FF&E & execution of residential, Corporate & hotel projects and has won various awards for unique designs.

Dr. Bukola Bello Jaiyesinmi.

Dr. Bukola Bello Jaiyesimi Is an avowed Pan-Africanist, lobbyist, and developmental and legacy strategist with a passion for mankind and institutional development. She started her academic journey in 1982 at St Luke’s Model School, Lokoja, she proceeded to Command Secondary School, Kaduna in 1988.

Dr. Bukola Bello Jaiyesimi gained admission into the University of Abuja where she bagged a Diploma in Banking and Finance in 1995.

She relocated to study in Canada in 1998 and proceeded to Queens School of Business, Ontario, Canada, and graduated with a BSC in Marketing in 2001.  She went further to the London School of Business and Finance, UK and she graduated with MBA in Entrepreneurship at The Institute of Transformative Thoughts and Learning Doctoral Research Centre (ITTL-DRC). She is also a recipient of the following; Metropolitan Institute of Business and Management – Special Executive Masters in International Business Law (LLM)-2013, CGUI, Boston, Massachusetts – Doctoral Research 2017, Chartered Institute of Public Relations, United Kingdom – Diploma in Public Relations 2018.

Furthermore, in her quest for excellence, she has so far authored 3 books, mentored a myriad of persons and institutions across the continent of Africa, and holds regular seminars, meetings, retreats as well as training and institutional program reviews. She has won many awards both locally and internationally and across different sectors.

With this new appointment, SAHCO has once again demonstrated its commitment to building a diversified Board, Management Team, and staff with expertise that spans industry circles to cater to its growing list of clientele is a public listed Aviation Ground Handling company that is involved in Passenger Handling, Ramp Handling, Cargo Handling and all other aviation Ground Handling related services.

SAHCO Sustains Green Legacy, Acquires More Electric Ground Support Equipment

Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO) has further augmented its fleets of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) by acquiring 10 electric conveyor belt loaders, the first of its kind in Nigeria, to boost Ground Handling operations across all the commercially operated airports in the country.

The Electric conveyor belt loaders which were manufactured by Charlatte Manutention, a renowned aviation industry manufacturer and supplier of quality Ground Support Equipment in France, are fitted with modern technology with zero carbon monoxide emission, it uses 80 volts rechargeable batteries with low maintenance cost which has the potential to save SAHCO a lot of money that could have been spent on diesel, petrol, fuel filters, Engine oil, etc. The Ground Support Equipment is an upgraded version of the existing conveyor belt loader in the market, it is very convenient to use and fitted with an anti-collision system.

Concurrently, the electric conveyer belt loaders which are designed to convey baggage and goods into the aircraft are ruggedly built to withstand the African terrain and weather conditions. SAHCO is reputed to invest in environment-friendly Ground Support Equipment hence the need for the purchase of these new feats of technology. The electric conveyor belt loader can service wide-body aircraft and also narrow-body aircraft.

Also, SAHCO which was recently crowned with the Best Performing Stock Award during the BusinessDay/NGX Awards in Lagos is constantly investing in unique Ground Support Equipment to serve her constantly growing list of clienteles that are spread across all the commercially operated airports in Nigeria.

It should be noted that SAHCO Plc was the first to introduce electric GSE into the Nigerian Ground Handling Support System when it commissioned five Electric Tow Tractors in 2021 which have since been deployed and have been in use.

Recently, SAHCO also acquired ten Passenger Step Units that have the capacity to provide passenger access to a wide range of aircraft including B747, B777, B767, A340, A380, A320, and an Air Starter Unit (ASU) which is used to supply necessary quantity of air at a specified pressure to aircraft while it is parked and two units of Airmarrel High Loader LAM 7000.
