The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has received approval from the Lagos State University (LASU) to commence Postgraduate programmes in Entrepreneurship, marking a significant milestone in entrepreneurial education in Nigeria.

This collaboration between LCCI and LASU aims to offer Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Masters, and Doctorate programmes in Entrepreneurship to the public. The programmes will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurship and management functions crucial for successful business ventures, along with practical application of management theories to enhance entrepreneurial skills.

The approval comes after LCCI and LASU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in August 2022 to develop programmes in entrepreneurial education and other beneficial areas, with a focus on fostering the growth of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector. The Diploma in Entrepreneurship programme commenced in May 2023, with the pioneer students now in their second and final year of study.

As Nigeria’s premier Chamber of Commerce, LCCI aims to provide world-class business development services, including training and consultancy, to its members and the wider business community. The collaboration with LASU further strengthens LCCI’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and SME development in Nigeria.

Established with a vision of academic excellence, LASU has been dedicated to becoming a leading institution of learning, emphasizing teaching, research, and service to humanity. The collaboration with LCCI underscores LASU’s commitment to providing relevant and practical education that meets the needs of the business community.

Admission into the 2023/2024 Diploma in Entrepreneurship Programme is ongoing, while the Postgraduate Programme is set to commence on May 3rd, 2024. Students enrolled in the Postgraduate Programme will benefit from entrepreneurship mentoring from successful entrepreneurs associated with LCCI, access to resources, and opportunities to participate in business exhibitions, including the annual LCCI Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF).

The programme will feature a blend of classroom training, practical skills acquisition, business counseling, mentoring, business tours, clinics, weekend hybrid classes, dedicated lecturers, and access to user-friendly resources, providing students with a comprehensive and enriching learning experience in entrepreneurship.
